Wild West - first impressions
Showing my legendary restraint, I managed to wait a whole day before trying one of the new Wild West beer we bottled on Tuesday. It's based on an IPA that I've brewed a few times very successfully but when you're scaling up 20 fold things can go awry. Dealing with 5kg bags of hops is a bit of a change too, especially with the huge hop load in Wild West - 6.5g per pint!
Anyhow, what was it like? Just how I wanted it to be. Great golden colour, nice low carbonation and a big hoppy aroma are the first impressions. On the palate there's a good malt backbone and a tinge of sweetness too before the hops cut in and leaves you with a long dry finish.
This should be a nailed on favourite for any flavoursome IPA lovers and I'm very proud of how it tastes.
