Originally this beer was named Blatchy Cutlins where blatchy means black and cutlins are oats and there still oats in this porter but we've used malted oats rather than simply rolled oats. Why? Well we prefer it. We've got a solid malty, toasty backbone to this beer with Munich and Chocolate malt in abundance and the oat malt adds a fantastic viscous mouthfeel that makes the whole thing seem far more substantial than the 4.5% beer it is.
Winter porters are a thing of wonder. Chill evenings, sat by the pub fire sipping something dark and slipping into a contemplative beery fug. They're not to be rushed and often work as well at the start of a meal (especially with shellfish) as they do at the end (with cheese). So why not try a bookend your next Sunday roast with Blatchy.
